Our annual 5k Walk, 5k/10k Run and Community Expo brings together hundreds of breast cancer patients and survivors from all over the Bay Area for a day that will restore our sense of Hope, Empowerment, Renewal, and Support. We’ll gather on September 28th at Fremont’s beautiful Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area for a morning that includes many engaging elements, including:
Quarry Lakes East Bay Regional Park
2100 Isherwood Way
Fremont, CA 94536
From I-880 in Fremont, take the Decoto Road (Hwy. 84) exit east. Turn right on Paseo Padre Parkway, then left on Isherwood Way. Proceed to the park entrance on the right.
From Mission Blvd (Hwy. 238) in Fremont, turn south on Nursery Ave. (away from the hills) and right (west) on Niles Blvd. Turn left on Osprey Drive and left on Quarry Lakes Drive. Proceed to the park entrance on the left.
Parking is available at the park, but we encourage everyone to carpool.
Normally there is a $5 charge to park at Quarry Lakes. Event participants are given free entrance, but HBCF pays for the parking. If you carpool, you help us put more of the event proceeds directly into services! If you would like to pay for your parking, you can register for the event using the option labeled Event + Parking Donation.
Dogs are allowed within the Quarry Lakes Regional Park, and we welcome you to bring your dog to participate in the walk. However, as a courtesy to others, we request that walkers with dogs stay at the back of the group.
Dogs are not allowed beyond the beach gates or in the water. Dogs must remain leashed at all times (leashes may not exceed six feet in length). This regulation is necessary due to the recreational nature of the park and to protect park wildlife and ecosystems.
On-Site Registration (day of event)
Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in Quarry Lakes, except by permit within reservable picnic areas. Alcohol is not allowed at this event.
Event participants receive a free t-shirt as part of their registration depending on their age category (please see note below). At the time of registration, you will be asked to specify a t-shirt size. Day-of registrants are not guaranteed a t-shirt.
If you register on the day of the event, we cannot guarantee that you will receive a t-shirt.
As we need to order t-shirts several weeks before the event, we have to guess the sizes of those people who will register on the day of the event. You can help us plan more accurately by registering early, so we know your size!
IMPORTANT NOTE: While youth 12 to 17 and children under age 11 may participate at our event, they will only receive a t-shirt after the event, IF shirts are still available. If you are bringing a child to participate, please return to the registration desk after completing the walk. If shirts are still available, your child may have one.
We use a professional race timing company with an electronic chip timing system for the 5K and 10K run. Please note that this event is not USATF certified. The distance is approximate, due to the course.
Awards will be presented to the top runners in each event (5K run and 10K run). All participants will receive a ribbon. Times will be posted at the event, and on this website after the event.
