Will insurance cover bras and/or prostheses for breast cancer patients?

Yes, for our clients who are breast cancer patients, most insurance providers will cover up to three bras per year, and one prosthesis every other year. Please direct your doctor’s office to our For Providers page to download the forms we need to have completed by your doctor to receive covered services.

How does my purchase help others?

The profits earned from non-insurance purchases goes towards supporting the needs of underserved individuals in the Bay Area.

What if I do not have insurance or cannot afford services?

The HERS Breast Cancer Foundation has three assistance programs to help you. Please see the Assistance Programs page for more help.

How do I make an appointment to see a Breast Care Specialist?

Please call the location that serves you best, have your insurance information available and the contact information of your doctor. We require a prescription for many services and your doctor must provide this to us prior to your appointment. You can direct your doctor to our For Providers page for more information on how to help you gain services. We can also assist you in attaining the appropriate documentation from your physician, just call us for help.

Are your services only for breast cancer survivors?

Individuals who are not breast cancer survivors can also benefit from our services. Even though all of our bras are pocketed to accommodate breast forms, women without need can wear them comfortably. The success of our work is evident when a client says: “I can breathe better,” or “I am standing up straighter, or “I feel lighter,” after a fitting. Clients have discovered that a proper fit greatly enhances how they feel physically as well as how they feel about themselves, and naturally enhances how they look.
